Searching for a job is a fulltime job.  So fulltime in fact that it can be draining and demoralising.  Few people when I meet them feel they are making progress with their job search because they aren't in control of their time and the outcome.

Its good to read some good news as large employers such as BT announce they are closing their graduate recruitment scheme to fight the economic downturn.

London Mayor Boris Johnson has announced an extension to his graduate employment website by posting over 250 opportunities on its new jobs board. The addition of the jobs board, which allows graduates to search for jobs across London, is part of the Mayor’s longer-term plan to expand the site to offer more help, both to graduates, and to other groups of Londoners looking for work and training opportunities. In 1998, 24-year-old Tony Hsieh sold his company, Internet advertiser LinkExchange, to Microsoft for $265 million. A year later, he met an even younger entrepreneur, Nick Swinmurn, who had an idea no investor would touch: selling shoes on the Internet. But Hsieh (pronounced shay) was intrigued and invested $500,000 in ShoeSite.com (they soon changed the name to Zappos, after zapatos, which is Spanish for "shoes").

Summer 2009 and everyone is hoping for more positive signs of economic recovery.  Whilst there are glimmers of hope, the reality is that employment levels and real business confidence will not return for at least 12 months although some predict more like 18 months.
